We’d like to introduce our ‘Distinguished Gentleman’. We have a growing collection of these old & vintage photographs that we restore & colourise as passion projects. The original portrait is faded & yellowed with age, as you can see. Bruce stayed true to the daintiness of this portrait with his colourisation. This lovely portrait was found in a bundle of photos that were identified as originating from Ottawa. One of the other photos in the bundle we know was taken by an Ottawa photographer named ‘Wallis’, located at 61 Sparks Street. A little research on ‘Wallis - Photographer' provided more information. J.D. Wallis was in fact a photographer from Ottawa. J.D. Wallis Photographer was located at 56 Sparks St., [1873-1874] (1st of 3 locations); 24 Sparks St. [1874-1875] (2nd of 3 locations) & 61 Sparks St., [1875 - 1895] (3rd of 3 locations). We’d love to hear what you think the story is behind this ‘Distinguished Gentleman’? Enjoy! Bruce & Janet (Two Crows)
